Plot
Set in London in 1918 starring a doctor named Jonathan Reid who for a dark reason turned into a vampire. The game is focused on Jonathan who is perpetually struggling on his nature to help the sick as the Hippocratic oath affirms or give vent to his beast bloodlust.
Game mode
The game is set exclusively in the city of London making the game an open world. The game map is divided into four neighborhoods. The player can also use weapons in combat or exploit the vampire powers of Jonathan. Also, you can decide whether to kill people or not and the choices made by the player will influence future events such as the destruction of a neighborhood. As you gain experience you can level up by acquiring new skills and combos.
Reid can turn people into vampires and if he kills someone he will have consequences in the future. Each character has a past and a story and Reid has the opportunity to relate to each of them and according to his choices will also change future events. Reid has the ability to hypnotize people to force them to be told information or take them to hidden areas to kill them without problems.
The city of London is inhabited by several factions of vampires that vary in area: The aristocratic vampires are called Ekon; the vampires who live in the sewers are called Skals; Vulkods are vampires that have a similar appearance to werewolves; Nemrods are vampires who hunt other vampires. There is also a secret organization of vampire hunters called the Priwen Guard.
Vampires
In the world of Vampyr there are several breeds of vampires, extremely different from each other. Transformation into vampire causes a mutation in the human body, making the individual transformed extremely strong and agile, and able to exploit his blood or the power of darkness to fight. In addition, the vampire has a powerful regenerating factor that allows him to heal almost deadly wounds (healing is even more accelerated if the vampire feeds on blood). Of course, the transformation also has major disadvantages: becoming night creatures, vampires can not go out in the daytime, or the sun would burn them alive (this effect is achieved even if the vampire is exposed to a light of similar intensity) . In addition, garlic has highly harmful effects on their body. Finally, the vampire is forced to feed for a living, even if bloodlust is more an addiction than a real means of subsistence. In fact there are vampires who survive a long time without feeding on blood. The spread of the gift of immortality is given by a vampire 'creator' that allows a human to drink his blood, which will be called his 'progeny'. The process, however, is not without risks: there is a strong possibility that the body of the offspring can not bear the burden of transformation, and this leads to its death. Moreover it is not always said that in the process the traits are transferred to the offspring (sometimes an Ekon can give life to a Skal). The transformation into a vampire is therefore very heterogeneous and dangerous, and can give life to one of these races:
Ekon: They are vampires who have not lost their intellect in the process of transformation, and can make the most of the benefits they derive from their immortal body. They are effectively camouflaged among humans, and some play important roles in society, such as the Ascalon club. The transformation does not in any way affect the personality of the individual, but the thought of being immortal can convince individuals with a bad moral temper to perform ungodly acts. The Ekon feed on blood and get stronger thanks to it.
Skal: Skal are repudiated by Ekon vampires and are considered to be poorly executed vampires. The metamorphosis brings serious consequences in a Skal: the body is deformed and the resemblance of the resulting vampire with human being was lost. In some cases, the mind is degraded, leading the Skal on the path of insanity. The epidemic that spreads in the game is an epidemic of Skal and in the first moments is confused as a Spanish flu. The Skal produced by the epidemic are beings who have totally lost the light of reason and who attack any living being that enters their range of action, in order to satisfy their inexhaustible thirst for blood (they can also feed on the flesh of corpses). However, they are able to exploit the powers of vampires thanks to instinct. Skal also can be produced from the blood of some Ekon (the resulting offspring will not have the affected mind). It is rightly said however that the Skal are not devoid of redemption: if a vampire with intelligence gives a Skal some of his blood, the mind of Skal is almost restored.
Vulkod: Vulkods are vampires who have gotten a huge increase in muscle mass from the transformation. A Vulkod can easily be confused with a werewolf given their physique, which allows him to tower over all other vampires. Thanks to their size, they can crush a person's skull simply with a hand without too much effort and can also exploit the powers of vampires, which combined with their immense physical strength, make them fearful in battle. However, although the transformation does not seem to have affected their intelligence, it is not really like that: they are very fierce, bloody and instinctive beings, ill-suited to living in society. Furthermore, being carried away by fury, they are ready to lose control in battle; in fact an Ekon, even if less powerful can still beat a Vulkod with cunning.
Ichor: A rare breed of vampires that is connected to an ancient legend of blood. The Ichor can only be females and the transformation brings in them sinister aspects: a horrible physical deformation and an inextinguishable hatred of anything. The Ichor can spread the gift of vampirism as if it were a pestilence and the resulting vampires will all be without exception Skal with a completely destroyed mentality. They can also infect other vampires with their disease, making them all angry monsters.
